ARTWalk Seeks Artists, Musicians and Performers for 2007 Events

Rochester, NY ARTWalk has announced an Open Call for artists and performers for the seventh year!

Artists and Performers Needed! Local individual artists, dancers, musicians, dance companies, poets, music ensembles and collaborations are all invited to apply to perform. Competitions are open to all residents of the eight-county Greater Rochester Area. Honorariums are provided.

ARTWalk is hosting two events this year; the "Muse-a-Thon", on Sunday July 22nd from 12-3 pm, and "ARTWalk Alive!" on Sunday, September 16, 12-4 pm. Applications are now available for all events at www.rochesterARTWalk.org.

The first public informational meeting will be held Tuesday, April 17, 7pm at the ARTWalk office, 179 Atlantic Avenue.

The "Muse-a-Thon" is a fundraiser walkathon for ARTWalk, during which 6-12 live musical performances will occur simultaneously and many visual artists will display and sell their work along the Muse-a-thon route. This event will be held on Sunday, July 22 from 12pm-3pm. This year the Muse-a-Thon is happening in conjunction with the Bop Shop's 25th anniversary and City Newspapers' sidewalk chalk project.

"ARTWalk Alive!" is a FREE outdoor family event put on by ARTWalk. The event is strictly run by generous volunteers! It is ARTWalk's mission to create an environment that encourages exposure to art and strengthens the community. ARTWalk Alive! features music, art displays, dance and spoken word as well as activities for kids and families. Twenty (20) performances will take place at different sites on University Avenue as part of our seventh annual ARTWalk Alive! celebration. The event also features arts “inter-activities”, where dozens of regional arts organizations and others provide free participatory activities. Organizations wishing to participate should contact ARTWalk.

"ARTWalk events are extremely popular with people of all ages from all over the Rochester area," says Douglas Rice, Executive Director, “last year there were over 8,500 in attendance. This year is particularly exciting as we will be dedicating the three artistic bus shelters at ARTWalk Alive!"”
