Experience live music and an outdoor gallery of local artists’ work at ARTWalk’s second annual fundraising Muse-a-Thon event.
ARTWalk is holding its second annual Muse-a-Thon fundraising event on Saturday, June 11, 2005 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The walking route will start at the Merriman St. playground on the corner of Merriman St. continue on a one mile route through the Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA) and the East Avenue Historic District. The rain site is at Village Gate Square at 274 N Goodman Street.
ARTWalk and the surrounding blocks will spring to life with seventeen live musical acts and artists of all ages. Anyone can participate in the event by raising pledges or just coming to enjoy the atmosphere. Pledge forms are available at area businesses and on the website. There will be children’s activities and bake –sale goodies along the route.
Musical groups will include local favorites Margaret Explosion, the Rochester Harp Network, Jon Sieger and the All Stars, Kinloch Nelson, and many other great ensembles.
Artists on display will include Martha Schermerhorn, Gretchen Targee, Richard Hart, and dozens of others. A clothesline will also be strung along portions of the route displaying students' art. All musicians and artists responded to an open call for participants.
Conceived by local Rochester New York residents, ARTWalk is a permanent urban art trail, connecting the arts centers and public spaces within the Neighborhood of the Arts. ARTWalk is an interactive outdoor museum, located on University Avenue between the Memorial Art Gallery and the George Eastman House.
Artists interested in participating in the September 18 "ARTWalk Alive! have until June 17th to submit applications.
