Rochester Harp Network this weekend along ARTWalk
ARTWalk Begins weekly "Music on the Block" event

Rochester, NY- ARTWalk is pleased to announce that free live music will be performed outdoors along ARTWalk every Saturday and Sunday this summer between 2 and 4 pm. The selected musicians all responded to an open call to participate.

"This is the latest program ARTWalk has begun in our efforts to encourage more community activity and involvement on the street," says Music On The Block (MOB) co-ordinator Judy Binder. "We believe that by using the arts to encourage people to come to the arts district, everyone benefits. Live music is a natural fit."

The musical styles include a classical harp ensemble, funk, afro-cuban, big band jazz, clarinet ensemble, rock, blues, folk, and many others.

Saturday performances will be from 2-4 pm outdoors in front of Craft Company No.6 at 785 University Avenue. Sunday performances will be from 2-4 pm outdoors adjacent to Starry Nites Cafe at 696 University Avenue. Both locations are along ARTWalk. Performances are scheduled through September 12, 2004.

This Saturday 7/3, the Rochester Harp Network (Celtic, classical, contemporary) will perform at Craft Company from 2-4 pm. The Harp Network will appear again Sunday, 7/4, at Starry Nites Cafe.

For the complete list of performers please visit the website, or visit Starry Nites Cafe and Craft Company to see a posted schedule.

There will also be 6 musical groups performing at the annual ARTWalk Alive! event, September 19, 2004 from 12-4 pm. Musicians wishing to participate in next years event should join ARTWalks notification list.

ARTWalk is an interactive urban outdoor museum that runs along University Avenue in the Neighborhood of the Arts. ARTWalk’s mission is to foster, create and maintain a distinctive public walkway connecting art
